Prof. Reddy Invited to be the GeoMO2012 Feature Lecturer
GeoMO was started in 2003 at the University of Missouri Science and Technology (formerly the University of Missouri) in Rolla, MO, and it has been very well attended by the geotechnical community in Missouri and neighboring states. The distinguished lecturers from previous GeoMO events include: Barry Christopher, Vincent Drnevich, Fred Kulhawy, Mike Duncan, Steve Wright, Steve Kramer, Paul Mayne and Ed Kavazanjian. Professor Reddy has been invited to be the feature lecturer of GeoMO2012. Professor Reddy will present various issues related to Geotechnics for sustainability. His presentation topics will include landfill cover and liner systems, bioreactor landfills, in-situ containment barriers, electrochemical remediation, environmental nanotechnology, and green and sustainable remediation. Professor Krishna Reddy will deliver state-of-the-practice presentation on characterization, assessment and remediation of contaminated sites. His presentation will include evolution of the remediation field, conventional and innovative site characterization methods, tools to quantify the environmental risk, and technologies to remediate contamination. Funding Available for Graduate Students
Funding is available for graduate students interested in pursuing M.S. or Ph.D degree in civil engineering with specialization in environmental engineering or geotechnical engineering. Funding includes monthly stipend as well as tuition. Current research projects cover a wide range of topics related to waste management, landfill engineering, contaminated site remediation, beneficial use of waste and recycled materials, and sustainable engineering. Our projects involve laboratory testing, field investigations, and mathematical modeling. Both fundamental and practical aspects are considered in our projects.
